Clinical Significance:
AMACR (alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase, or p504s) is a highly sensitive positive marker of prostatic adenocarcinoma, and is generally negative on normal or atrophic prostatic glandular epithelium. Generally employed in the context of a panel of antibodies including those to p63 and high MW cytokeratins (antibody 34ßE12).
