Clinical Significance:
Identifies the family of at least five proteins known collectively as CEA (CD66). This protein group includes: ‘true’ CEA (CD66e); NCA (CD66c), present in neutrophils; and biliary glycoprotein (BGP, or CD66a). The latter, when expressed in a bile canalicular pattern, is highly specific for hepatocellular carcinoma.
