Clinical Significance:
Plasma cell myeloma (or multiple myeloma) is a malignant disorder in which clonal plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow. This incurable disease is heterogeneous, with survival range varied from a few weeks of diagnosis to more than ten years. Other groups have published numerous studies demonstrating the presence of hyperdiploidy is associated with a favorable prognosis as these patients showed less aggressive clinical features, prolonged remission and higher survival. Hyperdiploidy is characterized by trisomy or tetrasomy of chromosomes 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 19, and/or 21. Probe type: Enumeration
