Clinical Significance:
Identifies: MUM1 gene product, also known as interferon regulatory factor 4. In hematolymphoid neoplasms, MUM1 is positive in multiple myelomas, lymphoplasmacytic lymphomas, Reed-Sternberg cells of Hodgkin lymphoma and in approximately 50% (up to 75% in some studies) of diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL). It is expressed at low levels (i.e., in less than 30% of the cells) in marginal zone lymphomas, follicular lymphomas, and B cell CLL/SLL. It is negative on Burkitt’s lymphoma.
