Clinical Significance:
Identifies: PAX-6 is a member of the paired box protein family, and is a sensitive marker of pancreatic endocrine neoplasms. However, there is a lack of specificity as PAX-6 is also expressed by other neuroendocrine neoplasms and even some non-neuroendocrine tumors (e.g., endometrial and ovarian carcinomas).
