Clinical Significance:
This dual color dual fusion FISH assay secifically detects the t(14;18)(q32;q21). This translocation, which juxtaposes the MALT1 gene on chromosome 18q21 with the IGH chain gene on 14q32, is detected in approximately 10% of patients with MALT lymphomas, namely in MALT lymphomas of the liver, skin, ocular adnexa, and salivary gland, but typically does not occur in MALT lymphomas of the stomach, intestine, lung, thyroid, or breast.
