TCL1 pin

Methodology: IHC

Clinical Significance:
Identifies a protein present in both the cytoplasm and nucleus of the following:  immature normal T-cells; T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (in which TCL-1 overexpression due to chromosomal translocation is the key pathogenetic event); a variety of B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders including CLL/SLL; and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.  TCL-1 protein function has been studied predominately in T-cells, in which it has been demonstrated to bind to the AKT protooncogene and to enhance both AKT enzymatic activity and translocation from cytoplasm to nucleus. Subcellular Localization: Nuclear, some cytoplasmic

Disease State: Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm
