Methodology: IHC

Clinical Significance:
Identifies: The intermediate filament protein associated with cells manifesting mesenchymal differentiation; also co-expressed with cytokeratin in a subset of carcinomas. While a subset of carcinomas co-express vimentin along with cytokeratin, the use of organ restricted markers such as TTF-1, PAX-8, etc., is preferred to vimentin in this setting. There are very few remaining applications for use of this antibody in current diagnostic pathology. Subcellular Localization: Cytoplasmic
